The two giants that are standing at the box office and bringing it back to life this weekend are Wicked and Gladiator II. Fans have begun referring to it as Glicked or Wickiator because both of them have turned out great.
The film ‘Wicked’ which is adapted from the famous Broadway musical is on track to earn a whopping $125 million in its first weekend of release. That is the highest opening spurt ever recorded for a Broadway-based film and also among the highest openings for a musical film. Sequels are doing quite well too, as Gladiator II is expected to gross $61 million at the count of its first theatre screening.

The Impressive Idiotic Opening of Wicked
Wicked had a magical start and earned $11 million solely on Thursday night previews. With other films and early showings from this week, its up to 19.2 million. This film features Ariana Grande as Glinda, Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and the audiences are enjoying the film so far with 93 percent on rotten tomatoes. This also coincidences with the extensive brand collaborations the film has had, from Stanley Tumblers to Pink and Green mac and cheese.
Wicked was initially scheduled for release just before Thanksgiving. However, in order to enhance their prospects of success, Universal Pictures decided to release the film earlier so as to preempt the Thanksgiving festivities. As for Wicked, its part two is already in the works for next year’s release.

How Gladiator II Gives it all
Gladiator II the sequel to Ridley Scott’s cult classic comes out 24 years after and Paula Mescal stars as Lucius alongside Denzel Washington and Connie Neilsen. The story is back to Lucius, this time he is grown up and seeks vengeance as a gladiator. Gladiator II seems to be on the right path, estimating earnings at the box office at almost $61 million during the opening weekend. The film has been publicized for a long time and its release is meeting the same level of expectation attracting both old members of the institutions as well as new observing the franchise for the first time. The action-packed sequel has evidently had people’s eyes glued, thanks to its mix of action and vivid storytelling, quite adamant for a 24 years absence since the last one was released.

People who love action and historical drama are eager for the movies to hit the screens, and the picture is projected to earn approximately $61 million by the end of the weekend. While it has a impressive Rotten Tomatoes rating at 72%, it has managed to attract large audiences. Apart from its healthy earnings on box office, Oro has also recorded good sales on ticket for the screening of its specific project. The film also had a limited release via Amazon Prime, which made $2.5 million from 750 cinemas, and some pre-release marketing. One thing is for sure niether the Warrior nor The Witches of Oz show no sign of stopping.
